“Cut for a cure” donations up over 30% this year!

A great big thanks goes out to our guests for all their support and generosity, and to our talented and dedicated team! Your salon increased their donations by over 30% versus last year. Way to go!

Arame Salon and Spa partner’s up with Stony Brook University Medical Center

Arame Salon and Spa is proud to be supporting “Cut for a Cure” for a third year running. We will be opening our doors on Sunday, October 23rd from 10 am thru 1pm. Proceeds from the day’s efforts will be donated to the cause. We will be offering snacks and refreshments for all of our guests and encourage you to stop by and show your support. In addition, we will be selling raffles tickets throughout the month to increase our donation efforts (1 raffle for $5 and 5 for $20)

Excellent prizes will be awarded! Proceeds go to benefit cancer patients treated at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

We will also offering Aveda’s “Pink Ribbon” Hand Relief. With each item sold AVEDA will donate $4 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation! You can also visit www.aveda.com to obtain additional information.

Caps off to Port Jefferson!

We are excited to be teaming up with The Friends of the Port Jefferson Free Library and recycling #5 caps with the support of our friends at AVEDA. This has been an ongoing campaign at AVEDA and we are thrilled that the library will be supporting these efforts with us. A Greener World: AVEDA recycles

As many of you know, Aveda and participating Aveda Salons look to do all that we can to reduce our carbon footprint and act in a environmentally friendly fashion. Arame Salon and Spa completely supports these efforts! I wanted to share some information with you about Aveda Caps Off Program, “The good news is that plastic #5 caps can actually be recycled by bringing them to any U.S. Aveda Salons. Just make sure they are clean and store them in a bag until you are ready to take them to a local salon. Aveda is a environmentally conscious beauty products and services company and they utilize this recycled plastic into their product packaging.

Aveda has provided a handy reference sheet on what caps can be recycled. You can bring in any #5 rigid caps with threaded necks from shampoo, water, milk, detergent, flip top and pharmaceutical bottles. Don’t include pumps or non-rigid lids from things like yogurt or margarine lids. Arame Salon raises over $1250!

Thanks to our generous guests and talented staff we raised over $1250 in October (a 20% increase over last year’s efforts!). All proceeds benefit cancer patients at Stony Brook University Medical Center, through their GIFT program. We accomplished this through raffle ticket sales in October, awarding four great prizes with products and services. We also participated in Stony Brook University Medical Center’s annual “Cut for a cure” event. On Sunday October 24th we opened and staff member’s donated their time performing hair services. Proceeds from this event were also donated to this cause.

Thanks again to our guests and staff for making this year’s efforts so successful, much appreciated!

Cut for a Cure at Arame Salon

Once again our staff will be donating their time and talent for this worthwhile cause. On Sunday, October 24th, we will open from 12-3pm offering hair and skin care services. All proceeds from this day will go to “cut for a cure”, benefiting breast cancer patients treated at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

In addition to these efforts, we will also be selling raffle tickets throughout the month of October (some great prizes!), raising additional funds for the cause. Thanks to our terrific staff and guests support, we are confident that this will prove to be another successful October, thanks again to all!

Arame Salon donates over 40 lbs of hair for Gulf Oil spill clean up

We have been involved with the environmental group Matter of Trust for close to two years. Since then, we have been storing hair clippings in plastic bags, inside boxes in our garage (it was getting hairy in their!) We were recently contacted by Matter of Trust requesting all available hair, and off it went. They have been coordinating efforts to assist with making hair mats as well as hair booms with nylons, assisting with oil clean up efforts in the Gulf. Arame Salon raises $500 during Earth Month!

Thanks to the generosity of our guests, we were able to raise $500 during Earth Month for Clean Ocean Action. This was accomplished through the sale of $5 raffle tickets in exchange for a chance to win a $100 Gift Certificate for salon services.

Congratulations to our winner, Noreen Bauser, and to all that were involved!

Arame Salon & Spa participates in EARTHSTOCK at Stony Brook University

On Friday, April 23rd, we joined in for Earthstock at SUNY Stony Brook for the second year, celebrating Earth Month 2010. All of us enjoyed a beautiful spring day with a great crowd of visitors. The bands, drum circle, stilt performers and many other activities during the day made for a great outing. We offered samples of our Aveda hand care product as well as valuable coupons and literature of our Earth friendly products and services. I was fortunate to have the support of two of our Aveda friends from NYC (Jen & Brenda), that helped me throughout the day. A great help (thanks again Jen & Brenda)!

Once again, an excellent event that brings attention to the earth and environment around us, and ways that we can do our part to help preserve it.

Arame Salon & Spa makes a splash at Port Jefferson’s 1st Annual Health & Wellness Expo

We had a great day interacting with all the guests and participants on Saturday April 10th. One of our talented staff members, Chris, was busy offering complimentary stress relieving hand massages with Aveda’s Hand Relief lotion. This created many happy visitors! We also offered guests valuable coupons for their upcoming visits with us. Our table was located on the third floor of the Village Center, giving us some of the nicest views of Port Jefferson Harbor on this clear and windy day.

Certainly a worthwhile event that helped to raise awareness for the many Health & Wellness offerings throughout the community.
